Prom-posal

Updated: Nov 8, 2018

It had just been a normal Monday at school, starting off the week. I knew it was coming at some point, but I didn't know when and I didn't expect it right when we got back to school after a 4-day weekend. I knew that my friend, Alex, was going to ask me to prom. It was supposed to be a surprise that most people in my class believed I had no idea about, but I knew exactly what was going on.

I remember sitting through the first period of the day, seeing the box of donuts sitting in his desk, seeing my friends busy at work putting together a prom sign. All I could think was, "huh, so I guess this is happening today." I texted my other exchange student friends at my school what was going on, and how I found it funny that everyone probably thought I had no idea what was going on.

So, I get through first period and our first break of the day, and I come back in ready for English class. And I even assumed then, "he's definitely going to ask me in English... so he's probably going to do it now..." I even saw him whispering to my English teacher towards the beginning of class, another big hint at what was happening. You'd think with that much anticipation already I would've prepared myself somewhat, but of course I didn't. I'll get more into what that means later.

English class goes as normal. We do some exercises and stuff in our books, I think about how I'm literally forgetting English but also how some of the stuff being taught is wrong. Everyone is copying down my answers. Just the usual. Besides the fact that I can see some of my friends continuing to work on what appears to be a prom sign.

So finally, Alex gets up for a while along with some of my other friends and people are just hanging out, also like normal, and I just sit at my desk continuing to do my work and pretending to be oblivious to everything that is going on around me.

And then, as I'm doing my work, Alex gets up in front of the entire class holding a box of donuts, and my friends Diego holding up a folded sign that he soon unfolds. Aaaand the rest is history. I finally acknowledge what is going on, and just kind of take everything in. I have it all in this video:

So Alex finally asked me to prom, as I had been expecting for a little bit. It was really cute and extra, much more than I was expecting. After all of my friends in the back of the room holding up the prom letters did their thing, they also had a nice little dance to follow that. And then Alex takes me from my seat and actually asks me, "Will you go to prom with me?" And I of course said yes. And then everyone goes to the back of the room and we took a bunch of pictures and everyone's happy.

So, see the rest of that was also on a little video, but I unfortunately did not have that to post on here. There are many videos of the prom-posal, but I just happen to have this one. Which is unfortunate that my friend, Frezia, who was sitting beside me up against the wall was filming from behind me.

As of recent, the zipper on my skirt broke at school, so I've just had buttons on it to keep it together as use my sweatshirt to cover it up. I also normally wear black shorts underneath, so you can't tell that much if it is showing. But this just so happened to be the only day that I decided not to wear shorts and bright red underwear. During the break before, I went to the bathroom, and I guess just didn't get all of my buttons together. But it wasn't much of a problem because my sweatshirt was covering it up. Although, my sweatshirt had to let me down and ride up. So that is why I only have about only half of the actual prom-posal on video to show; being because I'd rather not acknowledge my inevitable wardrobe malfunction. Thankfully my friend pulled my sweatshirt down really quick and no one actually saw what happened, but that is why there is no more video. Hopefully I'll get my hands on one of the videos another one of my classmates took from another angle of the room one day, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

That was my supposed to be surprise, but not surprise, super cute and extra prom-posal. I definitely wasn't expecting something so nice, so that was a surprise. Before I figured out he was going to ask me a few days before, I had figured I'd end up going to prom with some other exchange students. But thankfully, I had thought too soon. Also, I got donuts. I ended up sharing of course, because everyone (including Alex) wanted some donuts. So we had a nice little donut feast too. It was definitely a good day.

Oh Fudge

Except I wasn't thinking fudge. In 24 hours I will be boarding a plane to go home. How will I pass these next 24 hours? The end is here....
