Another museum! I love going to museums. it just sucks, because I can't understand of the information at the museums- yet! Thank goodness I live in a time where the internet exists and I can just look up everything that I don't understand.
Here's where I got all of my information: http://limaeasy.com/culture-guide/museums-lima/military-history-museum-real-felipe
The museum is in the district of Callao, which I previously heard nothing but sketchy things about. Driving through the area to get to the museum, I'm not gonna lie, was kind of sketch. But the area around the museum was absolutely beautiful. There's a very big harbor next to it. There's also a lot of beaches. After we went to the museum, my family went to go look at an apartment that isn't just facing the beach, but is basically on the beach. It was a gorgeous apartment, and it had a pool on the roof. I got super excited, but if they move, they probably won't until I leave. Or I would hope not until Hillary gets back.
When we got to the museum, I wasn't sure what to expect. They asked me later what I was expecting it to be like, and my response was that I didn't know. They could've told me all about it, but the only the thing I'd be able to understand right now is that we're going to a museum. It was basically all military history in Peru from the Inca Empire to now. Being retired from the military, my host dad was very excited about it and had a lot to talk about. There are so many people and statues that were in the museum, but I didn't know who any of them were. I remember an important person that my host dad pointed out named Tupac, and of course my first thought was RIP. Me, an American intellectual, right there.
We got to actually go into the fort, which was so cool! I learned that many American television programs have been through it because there is reported paranormal activity. Jahir is very into paranormal stuff, (we have watched at least 10 horror movies since I have been here) so he let me in on that on the way back home. The walkways of the fort were very small and very dark- no lights! A person much bigger than me would probably not be able to fit into them very easily. But, of all the 30+ people on that tour, I was probably the biggest person there...
When we finally made it to the top of the fort, the view was breath-taking! There really aren't any pictures that could do it justice. All of the boats in the harbor, all of the islands and rocks in the middle of the ocean. There was also a lot of grass and trees around. All of this on top of the actual fort itself. I only wish I could have stayed up there longer.
I have been asked where I am getting my photos from. My host dad takes them all on his phone for the most part, then sends them to me. He reminds me of my mother in the sense that he takes pictures of EVERYTHING. If something catches his eye, he goes "Hija, foto!" It's a routine.
Love the photos! I hope you were able to figure out who their Tupac was. I looked on Wikipedia and there were two. Tupac Amura and Tupac Amura II. It also said not be confused with Tupac Shakur. It would be easy to confuse them. LOL !
