Guitar Lessons

As a way to keep me more occupied and give me something to do, my host parents gave me the option to take a guitar lesson. I had played a little bit of guitar years ago, so I was excited to start it back up.

My host brother, Jahir, used to play, so I started learning on his guitar. I was really excited to start this something new. I was also going to be working with his old guitar teacher, Luis. He is one of those people who knows just about everything about guitars and is very passionate about what he does.

It was interesting at first, because the way they read music in Spanish is a little different. While we use letters in America to read music, they use solfege here (do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, ti, do). We use that in America, too, but not in the same way. I started out with getting to tune the guitar and getting figuring out the strings.

Even though I felt like I was doing bad through all of the exercises, I was apparently doing half decent. My teacher asked me if I had played in the past, because I was picking it up a lot quicker than beginners normally do.

I really enjoyed it, and have been getting in little bits of practicing here and there with my exercises. But, not one lesson has followed the first one unfortunately. Hopefully it's something I'll be able to pick up on here soon.

Oh Fudge

Except I wasn't thinking fudge. In 24 hours I will be boarding a plane to go home. How will I pass these next 24 hours? The end is here....
