Saying goodbye to two of my best friends in less than a week, my goodness.
Taylor was one of my best friends turned host sister. She was moving out and going back to the USA. So this was a little harder on my whole host family.
My last day with Taylor was a very normal day. I went to school, came home and she was there, so we ate lunch and then laughed and talked about crazy stuff like normal. This time we were making fun of our German friend Kata because she was bragging about getting to go on a beach vacation to Bulgaria when she goes back to Germany. Don't lie, you would laugh too if one of your friends told you that.
After that I went into our room to see only my things in there, all of her stuff was packed away in her 3 very large suitcases. I couldn't believe it was already time for her to go. Although I won't lie, I was looking forward to having my own room again. But that was it.
Soon our host mom and host sister Flavia came home from her gymnastics class. Our host mom had another class to go to, so Taylor and I took Flavia to the park and we bought some snacks. We came home, went into our room, put on a movie, and all crammed into the twin bed that pulls out from underneath the normal bed. And we just took in that little bit of time we would have together.
Before we knew it, it was 9 o'clock and time to go to the airport. It felt weird. At the airport, my host mom went with Taylor to check her bags, and then we went by security. Waiting there was another one of Taylor's host families and Kata. Like normal, the next half hour was spent talking and hugging and taking pictures. And then she had to go...
Kata's host dad was arriving in the airport an hour later, so while everyone left we stayed. While we waited and were sad, we ate McDonald's to eat the sadness away.
Soon after, Kata's host dad arrived in the airport and we took a taxi to her house, and I went home. When I got home my family was still awake, so I stayed up with them just to talk and enjoy a Pisco. It was weird to go to bed and be in my room all alone.
Taylor isn't too far away either, I'm sure I'll see her again soon.
