Fun Day with Roxana

When I went out for what I had planned on being a leisure Sunday afternoon, I stayed out all day long. I hadn't kept busy like that before since I'd been here, and I loved it! One of the Rotarians, Roxanna, took me out with her family for the day just to hang out and see some things.

I was a little surprised, because I was expecting it to be just her, but it was a family outing. I had a great time with them!

They picked me up around 1:30, and then we went to a Peruvian restaurant in the district of San Borja. I love San Borja... it's very green and just a nice place. It was a buffet with a wide variety of food, but of course the consistent Peruvian dishes. You wouldn't believe how many things you can do with chicken, potatoes, and rice. But even when it's different, it's still a lot of the same thing. We also had a lot of chicha, which is a traditional Peruvian drink made out of purple corn. We stayed at the restaurant for a while, just talking and hanging out.

After that, Roxanna took me to the Convent of Santa Rosa. Santa Rosa is the saint of Lima, and her legacy is celebrated towards the end of August every year. There, people throw prayers and wishes down the well of the convent where she resided. That was a very cool experience and the convent was beautiful.

After that, because we were in downtown Lima already, we just hung out around there some. Then we were on our way to the Cordero's home. That was a nice visit to see Nicole and Lukas again. Lukas and I of course talked in English the whole time, which is now my favorite thing to do when I'm given the opportunity. I also hung out some with Nicole's very cute sister. It was my last time seeing Nicole, as she went out to Germany on Wednesday for her exchange.

After that, Roxanna and I went to a mall in San Borja that was really nice. I loved, and almost bought some things, but I didn't end up getting anything. She said it was one of her favorite malls because of all the restaurants. They were mostly American restaurants: Pizza Hut, TGI Friday's, Chili's, and Longhorn Steakhouse. After shopping some, we got frozen yogurt. That was so much fun!

By then, it was about 8:30, and I was exhausted. It was time for me to go home and get some rest, since my first day of school was the next day!

Oh Fudge

Except I wasn't thinking fudge. In 24 hours I will be boarding a plane to go home. How will I pass these next 24 hours? The end is here....

Loved the photos. Sounds like a fun day. Except for Longhorn, I wouldn't eat at the other 3 American restuarants here in the U.S. Maybe the food is better there. LOL I still have that Chili's gift card cause no one will go there with me. It really is bad.
