A sad day that I knew was coming finally came after a few days of fun. It was time to say goodbye to Hillary, time for her to make her way to the United States!
We had to be up early that morning to be sure we had plenty of time to get ready and get to the airport. When I woke up, Hillary and Richard were wrapping plastic wrap around her luggage. I wasn't sure why at first, but they put more on at the airport later. The reason they do that is because people get into the luggage and put drugs in it to get across the border. If there is something wrong with the plastic wrap, you can tell that someone meddled with it and can say if there's something wrong. They said I will have to do that when I go back to the States.
We ate breakfast together that consisted of... something I don't remember. But I know we ate because Hillary was doing all the cleaning and dishes before she was leaving! We then took off for the airport- which is actually a beautiful drive along the coast! Jahir, Sarah, and I waited in a food court are while Hillary got her luggage checked in. I took a little nap until they came back to meet us. All of the Rotary people were there too! I don't know who is who, but they are always eager to talk to me and are very passionate about the program. All of Jacinta's relatives were there as well. So everyone who was at the party the night before.
It was a sad occasion, and very similar to how it went while my family was waiting for me to leave. Everyone was really sad to let go, but at the same time so excited for Hillary. I felt bad because I didn't cry. I didn't cry when I left either, and I still haven't cried once about leaving; it makes me feel a little emotionless...
After sitting around for some time, it was time for Hillary to go through security and get to her gate. That was different, since I went through about half an hour before my flight. She had to go through 2 hours before her flight in the much bigger airport. My dad also got to come through security with me and wait at the gate, while neither Richard or Jacinta were allowed to do that. We made our final hugs and stood there until she was no longer visible...
I will miss her so much. She is like my sister already. But I am so excited for this new adventure she is taking on. We will be experiencing the same things and get to explore each other's homes. Since I am supposed to leave June 30th, and Hillary is in Arizona until July 15th... long story short, I'm taking a little road trip to Lake Havasu, Arizona when I come back and am picking up Sarah on my way.
